Discipline and Punish
Once in a while I’m lucky enough to see a film that percolates quietly over the course of a week, whose complexities only energe in the retelling. I left Hunger thinking, not feeling, but in describing it I found those two reversed. What a strange, incredible film.
I’ll also note that this was the second Foucault name-drop I’ve made without bothering to qualify what the prison/power relationships were that I thought were interesting. Why? Fuck you, that’s why.
